Wow.

i was in the kitchen putting groceries away and baby girl comes in and says...

"the word 'hello' has two bad words in it."

"i know baby... wait, two? i only know one. you talkin about 'hell' and what else?"

(she shrugs and looks at the floor)

"baby what other word?"

"if you take away the L..."

"but that would just be 'heo' and that's not a word."

"no, no the letter. the sound."

so i think for a minute...

hello without the "ell" is ho. wtf rite?

so i said "ho?"

she nods her head and i ask her where she heard that word from and how does she know it's bad...

"when you and daddy used to fight, he used to say that to you and you would cry."

she was just 3-4 years old around that time, now she's 7...

WOW.

we need to remember, that kids remember. but you know what else she'll remeber? that i left... and never turned back.

That was deep, I'm proud of you and the job you're doing with your kids. It makes my heart smile to see women doing right by themselves and their kids.

I'm a product of people staying together "for the kid's sake" and I tell you what, instead of being taught how to carry on a loving relationship, I learned how to carry on a dysfunctional relationship. That took YEEEEEEARS to decipher how to carry on a healthy one.

Two snaps and a twist (a la in living color's men on film) to you for knowing what you needed to do not only for you but for your kids.

@epitome: lol @ ur two snaps and a twist, i remember that shit ("haaated it!" lol) but thank u :) and thanks for sharing ur story too, alot more ppl need to be aware that staying together just for the children is NOT the best idea, for all involved.

Wowzers. That is amazing. Every year of age I get, I always remember what I knew at previous ages so I don't treat younger people like they don't know shit and I always vow to listen to my future unicorns/kids.

Thanks for this, Bella.

Yea this post is old but I had to comment.
I love this. I'm glad that you moved on from that situation. I never really understand people that think you can talk about things in front of kids and they don't know what you are talking about...THEY DO lol!!!
